About

Tazmin is a Pakistani American mixed-media artist based in Washington D.C. Growing up in a small, strict village before moving to Boston at a young age was a profound cultural shock—one she neither fully understood nor knew how to express at the time.

Over the years, Tazmin discovered art as a means of expression, and it has since become her language for storytelling. She works with vibrant colors and a range of materials, including oil paint and embroidery, layering mediums to create texture, depth, and emotional complexity in her work.

Surrounded by women who worked closely with fabric and embroidery, Tazmin incorporates these materials to reflect the significance of thread in womanhood. In her practice, embroidery becomes both a symbol and a sensation—representing limitation, restraint, and the tightness she associates with her cultural experience.
